The purpose of this establishment has been to open doors for an independent and sincere media through a national institution in Duhok city, with a broader vision that goes beyond partisanism that can act as a national bridge with the other parts of Kurdistan. We believe that human beings are the center of existence and that all words, thoughts, and behaviors had to be used for their development. We also believe that no human product is more valuable than the human himself and it is utterly wrong to violate human rights, freedom or equity under any circumstances.

We believe the democratic system is the best system for a modern society and sensible and future-oriented policies. In our country, democracy is in its early stages and Waar strives to be part of spreading the notion of democracy, taking into account that the elements of coexistence and tolerance are already instilled in the Kurdistani society where the floods of religious extremism failed to hit Kurdistani culture.

We would like to convey information, news and opinions to you and win your trust, thus becoming a source for you for daily news inside and outside the country. We would like to carry out this task in a modern and scientific way that is compliant with the existing laws and norms.

Kurds and Kurdistan, as a nation and a country, are both divided and they are suffering from the pressure of regional countries as well as the chauvinism of powerful nations and it has been more than a century since the Kurdistanis began their struggle for the liberation and freedom of Kurdistan and Kurdistanis and this struggle is legitimate and humanitarian as it aims at attaining equity and freedom and protection of human values and Waar is part of this struggle Waar wants to talk in more than one language, have more audience and readers worldwide and become a bridge with the rest of the world. We began with sports in Arabic language. Currently, we have online services in Arabic, English and Latin besides Kurdish. We believe any free and democratic individual can protect his rights as well as human rights; therefore, Waar, with all its departments, is wholeheartedly open for you, especially for those who are striving to build the Kurdistani personality with democracy as its foundations and resist the violence the region has been facing. At the present time, some Waar departments are unserviceable due to the financial crisis and the fight against Daesh; however, the functioning parts of Waar will attempt to fill the existing vacancies.
