A high delegation from the new KRG cabinet, headed by Masrour Barzani visited Baghdad today, to meet with senior officials.
According to Waar reports, delegation included Deputy Prime Minister, Qubad Talabani, Minister of Justice, Firsat Ahmed, Interior Minister, Rebar Ahmed, Minister of Peshmerga, Shorish Ismael, Minister of Finance and Economy, Awat Sheikh-Janab, and Chief of Staff to the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Fawzi Hariri.
He added that the Kurdistan government delegation will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halbousi and President Barham Saleh, in addition to the ministerial delegation may be meetings with other forces and blocks of Iraq.
“The visit is aimed at showing good faith, in the positive atmosphere resulting from improved relations between Arbil and Baghdad,” he said, adding that “the visit is also intended to prepare the ground for other visits, during which will discuss differences between the provincial government and the federal government in various outstanding issues.”
This is Barzani’s first visit to Baghdad, and comes less than a week after he assumed his duties officially on July 10.
