KRG PM: His cabinet approachs end of austerity program

WAAR-DUHOK:

The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said on Wednesday that his government is addressing the issue pertaining to the slashed salaries of its employees which has been introduced as part of an economic austerity program.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Barzani said that his cabinet has met and agreed to decrease the deduction percentage of the public servants’ salaries.

However, he noted, this might not be a final step to pay the full wages, but is a good move forward to address the issue fully in the future.

He pointed out that the funds sent by the Iraqi government for Kurdistan Region’s public servants as part of their salaries has been welcomed by Erbil, hoping the disputes between the sides to be resolved completely.
