The national team of Belgium eliminated the team of Brazil 2-1 in a quarterfinal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup played in the city of Kazan on Friday.
Brazil’s Fernandinho turned a kick into his own net in the 13th minute. In the 31st minute, Belgium’s Kevin de Bruyne planted the ball in the net again. Brazil’s Renato Augusto scored a goal in the 76th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Belgium will take on France in a semifinal in St. Petersburg on July 10. Earlier on Friday, France had beaten Uruguay 2-0 in Nizhny Novgorod.
A total of 32 national football teams entered the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but narrowed down to 16 as they proceeded to the knockout phase after the group stage, held between June 14 and 28.
