Barzani, Abadi reach deal on Kurdistan independence: KDP official

Waar, Duhok:

President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani reached an agreement with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi over the independence of Kurdistan.

Senior KDP member Ali Awni told Waar that Barzani, during his recent visit to Baghdad prior to the start of Mosul offensive, had struck a deal with Abadi on Kurdistan’s independence.

Awni pointed out that the subject of the independence of Kurdistan would be discussed with Baghdad once Mosul was liberated from IS.

He also warned that the Kurdistan Region would hold a referendum should Baghdad don’t commit to the deal.
